Certificates and/or insurance details can be presented upon request.
Please note the term “sling” and/or “carrier” will be used interchangeably to denote any babywearing device.
Caregiver responsibility – At all times caregivers will be wholly responsible for their own baby/infant/child, and/or any baby/infant/child in their care present at a consultation. The instructor (Insured) will accept no liability for the baby/infant/child.
Pricing – All consultations are priced individually owing to a combination of variables, including but not limited to : Travel required, desired duration, number of children, number of participants, specified learning outcomes etc.
One to One Consultation
One to one means one babywearing consultant to one learner caregiver, myself and one student. Please see one to two, group consultation and workshop options for details where more than one learner is involved.
All consultations require a non-refundable 50% deposit to secure the booking. Should you choose to pay for the consultation in its entirety, in advance of the session, this will be reduced to 25% of the total amount.
Consultations are subject to 24 hours cancellation notice, should you wish to cancel your booking within 24 hours of the agreed time only the 50% deposit will be payable. In the case of full payment in advance, 75% of the total amount will be refunded.
When working with children one realises that there can be circumstances owing to which short notice rescheduling is required. Should you or your child become ill or otherwise unable to go ahead with the session for reasons beyond your control, the session will be rearranged to the best of my ability, at my discretion, to another mutually convenient time and date.
In the event that I am unable to attend your consultation owing to illness or other unfortunate circumstance 100% of any monies received will be refunded, and I will be in touch to rearrange to the best of my ability, at your convenience.
One to Two Consultation
As per the one to one terms and conditions above, applicable to a scenario of one babywearing consultant to two learner caregivers, myself and two students – This is the appropriate option for couples or two caregivers wishing to share the consultation cost together. One to two consultations are typically better value than two individual one to one consultations, travel and time factors are consolidated into the same location, on the same date, etc.
Please note the full consultancy fee is still payable should the session go ahead with only one of the of the scheduled learner caregivers. The planned duration will remain the same and the participant will benefit from the full consultation time.
Virtual Consultations
One to one consultation terms above apply to virtual settings, please note I cannot be held accountable for technical infrastructure issues and/or other technical errors beyond my control. Technical set up is the responsibility of the participant, should you miss your consultation because of a technical error rearrangement of the session will be made at my discretion. Virtual consultations are offered on a one to one basis only and must be carried out live in accordance with my insurance.
This option is offered only in cases where in-person consultations are not viable, there is no substitute for face to face support and I encourage you to consider a one to one consultation or attendance of a sling library session before considering a virtual consultation.
Bump Consultations
This option is designed for expectant parents and subject to the one to two consultation terms and conditions above. A demo doll will be provided for practice during the session.
Mini-Consultations
As per the one to one terms and conditions above, with a limited duration (approximately 45-60 minutes), designed to provide follow up support to build upon the skills introduced during a prior one to one or one to two consultation. Please note you must have completed a full one to one or one to two consultation with me before you have the option of booking a mini-consultation.
Group Consultations
As per the one to one terms and conditions above with the following exceptions:
Group consultations are limited to no more than four learner caregivers, an example scenario would be two couples sharing the consultation cost. Please note duration will be longer than a 1:1 or 1:2 consultation to ensure all participants are given sufficient time to maximise their learning opportunities.
Please note the full consultancy fee is still payable should the session go ahead with only one of the of the scheduled learner caregivers. The planned duration will remain the same and the participant will benefit from the full consultation time.

Sling Hire
You hire from the Sling Library on the basis that you will take good care of the sling(s) and return the carrier(s) on time in good condition with all accessories supplied, and avoiding damage or permanent staining. If you need to change the day/time of return or would like to renew you will maintain reasonable and regular communication with me. There is a charge for using the sling library, a deposit may be taken to cover loss or damage at my discretion. Slings can be hired during sling library sessions and/or consultations – with the exception of virtual consultation.
Hire fees and length of Hire period
At most two slings may be borrowed by a single family at any one time.
The hire fee per carrier is £15 for 2 weeks or £20 for 4 weeks. Bespoke sling hire periods beyond those mentioned here can be arranged at my discretion.
Hire periods can be extended for a reduced price after the initial hire period has expired, up to a maximum of 12 weeks.
Hire fees are payable by cash, bank transfer or Zettle.
Loss and damage
We hope that carriers are not lost and are returned without damage or permanent staining beyond that expected from normal wear and tear. You will be liable for any costs incurred for extra laundering, repairs or replacement of a carrier or accessories, with each judged on a case by case basis.
If a deposit was taken at the start of your sling hire period, I reserve the right to deduct costs for the aforementioned cases from said deposit.
Returning carriers
You may return your carrier in advance or on the day it is due, at a sling library session or at an arranged time and location. Postal returns are accepted providing the appropriate mailing method with sufficient insurance to cover loss of the sling has been applied. Please be mindful that you remain accountable for the sling until it has been safely delivered via your chosen postal service to Babywearing Butterfly.
Please note there are no refunds for early return and sling hire is not transferable should you wish to change to a different sling. Hire of a different sling will be the start of a new hire agreement and hire period at full cost.
Please inform Babywearing Butterfly at least 24 hours in advance of returning your sling if there are missing accessories or if there is damage, so that appropriate repair or replacement costs may be calculated.
Late returns
Should you fail to return your sling at the end of your hire period, without having contacted me to explain the circumstances and received acknowledgement you will incur late fees.
There will be an initial £5 admin fee. Each subsequent day thereafter will incur a £2 charge. These charges will be retained from your deposit, where applicable or invoiced to be paid when the sling is returned.
Should 30 days pass without contact following the end of your hire period the carrier will be considered stolen and legal proceedings to recover costs will begin.
All carriers are checked before lending to ensure that they are in safe working order, and will be inspected upon their return.
Be aware it remains the responsibility of the hirer to check over the carrier before every use, checking all buckles, hems and seams ensuring that there are no tears, breaks, cracks or holes.
Should you have any concerns about the condition of the sling discontinue use and immediately report it to Babywearing Butterfly for advice.
Safe use of carriers
You will be supplied with safety information and instructions for use, it is the hirer’s responsibility to ensure the hired carrier is used correctly and any baby/child/children carried in it are at all times. Seat your child correctly in the carrier and check knots and buckles and wellbeing of the child at regular intervals. If you are unsure or have questions then get in touch with Babywearing Butterfly during your hire period.
Care of Carriers
Please take care of the carrier so it can continue to be enjoyed by future users, storing it safely in a bag to avoid damage from zips, contact with pets or permanent staining. Do not allow your child to eat messy food in the carrier, nor eat or prepare messy food yourself while using it. Spot clean when necessary using plain water and leave to dry naturally. Do not machine wash. Please avoid the carrier coming into contact with any chemicals or bleach, this includes sterilising fluids such as Milton as these can compromise the fibre structures of the carrier.
Washing of Carriers
Slings are laundered regularly between sling library sessions and periods of hire.
I cannot guarantee that the carrier will be free of all marks or pet hairs.
Do not machine wash a carrier while on hire as we clean carriers regularly according to manufacturer’s instructions using eco washing powder. Carriers need to be taken care of in the wash as they can easily become bobbly or damaged if instructions are not followed. If you feel it necessary that the carrier be cleaned whilst on hire then contact Babywearing Butterfly for advice.
All slings, carriers, and accessories remain the property of Babywearing Butterfly at all times. All hires are subject to availability and at my discretion.
